I understand Resveratrol is found in red wine, but I don’t drink alcohol and the 60 minute piece seemed to indicate it was years away.

Resveratrol: A New Answer To An Old Question

Resveratrol is the latest health craze related to anti-aging. For several years now more and more studies are demonstrating conclusively that resveratrol supplements can slow down the aging process. Aging is what happens to the body as we get older and deteriorate. Metabolic processes and physiological functions slow. The rate of this slowing can be adjusted through the introduction of antioxidants such as resveratrol.

Studies on resveratrol continue to uncover the very tangible benefits of this element of red wine, which include anti-cancer, anti-aging properties. Basically, resveratrol brings back to life a gene within all living cells that provides that cell with more time to fix itself.

From Oprah to 60 Minuets to Barbara Walter, major media outlets have highlighted the studies on resveratrol that point to the anti-aging benefits. These tv shows have interviewed the researchers and doctors that have proven the effects of resveratrol in living cells. These tv shows have profiled the companies that are making these resveratrol supplements. Resveratrol is the next antioxidant that has the potential to make longer, healthier lives more possible.

The research into resveratrol suggests that it is a powerful antioxidant that helps to mitigate the damaging effects of free radicals in the body, and likewise may induce a process by which extended life will be more a possibility. One effect of the antioxidant resveratrol is on arteries. Research suggests that resveratrol brings down blood pressure by increasing blood flow.

Basically, antioxidants reduce the damage done to cells by free radicals. Diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, cancer and Parkinson’s can be slowed by the introduction of antioxidants.

Resveratrol is found in several organic sources, such as peanuts, red wine, grapes and blueberries among other items. But grapes, in particular Muscdine, have the highest concentration of resveratrol. Though nothing comes close to the amount of resveratrol in supplements. These capsules have been filled with resveratrol. To get comparable amounts of resveratrol one would need to consumer hundreds if not thousands of bottles of red wine per day. Clearly this is not feasible.

There are many resveratrol supplements that contain this newly discovered antioxidant, resveratrol, which some are calling “The Fountain of Youth” that also includes other important anti-oxidants. The number of these supplements is increasing every month as more and more people are looking to introduce them into their daily intake. While there are quite a few companies that don’t put enough resveratrol or the resveratrol they do create has a low bioavailability. This means that not much resveratrol actually reaches the body.

There are very few elements such as resveratrol. The increasingly positive studies and increasing number of funds available for product development mean that resveratrol has not yet reached its full potential.

Have You Experienced How Full Flavored Organic Coffee Can Be?

This is my attempt to explain a bit about USDA certified organic products, in particular, organic coffee.

1) Organic goods can not contain any synthetic chemicals.

2) Certified organic products cannot contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

3) To be labeled 100% organic items may only contain organic ingredients (excluding water and salt).

4) The term “certified organic” is a little tricky.  In this case only 95% of the components need to be certified organic, the remaining 5% must be on the USDA approved list and not be available in a non-organic form.

5) The USDA organic logo may be printed on any 100% organic or “Organic” item.

6) Agricultural products labeled “100 percent organic” and “organic” must not be produced using excluded methods, sewage sludge, or ionizing radiation.

I’m not trying to bore you with mindless organic labeling facts, but you need to understand what you’re dealing with “organic” products.  Now that we have explored the meaning of certified organic we can move onto the topic at hand.  Looking back at the previously mentioned definition of  “certified organic” we now know that organic coffee must contain at least 95% organic ingredients.

Why should you care if your coffee is grown organically?

1) Synthetic fertilizers are bad enough, but just ponder, sewage sludge!

2) There’s the whole Frankenstein gene thing.  I don’t want my Nectar of Life to have Flipper genes spliced in just so the beans can have less acidity.

3) For you decaffeinated coffee drinkers, organic coffee is your best friend.  Conventional decaffeinated coffees are processed by toxic organic solvents such as methylene chloride and ethyl acetate.  Organic decaf. coffees are decaffeinated by a water process.  There is evidence to suggest that drinking chemical processed decaffeinated coffees may lead to rheumatoid arthritis.

4)  Herbicides are bad for the wonderful people that grow our coffee.   Many coffee farmers are very poor and may not be able to afford the right protective clothing, which may lead to hazardous exposure to chemicals.

I could ramble on about why you should only buy organic coffee.  It goes much deeper than the coffee itself.  A lot of toxins are produced in the manufacturing of non-organic chemicals.

As a closing thought, farmers that cultivate their crops organically are paying specieal attention to the ongoing needs of their coffee, so the result is pampered coffee that tastes great!  It’s never too late to switch to organic coffee.  So give it a try, you may be surprised.

By now you’re probably wondering, “where can I get this yummy Organic Coffee you speak of?”  We’ll it just so happens that I own Nectar of Life Organic Coffee Company, so click that link and head on over!
