Can Hoodia be Dangerous to You?

If weight loss and obesity are a problem for you, you probably have tried and heard of every weight loss program in the world. Looking for a weight loss product that works can actually be a full time undertaking. Many of these products and weight loss diets promise the world but rarely do they deliver on the promises. The question is whether hoodia gordonii is one of these fly by night diets.  

Hoodia has been touted as one of the best weight loss products. From the Bushmen of the Kalahari to Hollywood stars, users have consistently touted its effects in reducing their appetites. This in turn leads losing weight. The question remains on how safe the product is. A there any hoodia gordonii dangers we do not know about?  

Most users on hoodia insist that they have no side effects when using it. However, government agencies and competitors are not satisfied and continue to test its efficacy. Some even suggest that it is not as effective a weight loss product as its supporters claim. They argue that there is no scientific evidence that they can rely on.  

Hoodia does have some dangers for a number of users. For example, hoodia while reducing appetite can also suppress their thirst. Thirst is a natural warning from the body that you may be dehydrated. When thirst is suppressed, you can dehydrate your body to dangerous levels. This can however be checked by taking a lot of water when using hoodia.  

Appetite suppressant supplements have a major disadvantage in that they can trick the body that it has the required amount of glucose. Glucose is essential for normal body cells functions and any shortage can be life threatening. For those who have diabetes, you should avoid taking hoodia or seek medical advice.  

It is rare to find any weight loss product without side effects. However, in the case of Hoodia Gordonii, if you are not affected by the two health problems, then you should be able to use it without worrying too much. Hoodia is safe as long as it is taken the right way.
