Is losing baby weight easy if you don’t gain a lot?

Cybele asked:

My mom said losing baby weight was easy. Her weight was normal when she got pregnant, she gained 30 lbs with her pregnancies, and then lost it within 3 months without trying or even breastfeeding. How hard is it for women who don’t gain a lot of weight?

it really depends on your body, and your metabolism
I have 3 kids, just had my baby 11days ago, and I only gained 20lbs w/ him and by the 4th day I had lost 17lbs! I am breastfeeding tho, Also w/ my first 2 pregnancies I have only gained like the 1st one was 19lbs and the 2nd was 20lbs as well and it took me about 9mo. to lose all the weight plus more I have always been skinner after having my children.
Like I said I guess it depends on your body and metabolism.
Mine tends to speed up after children. LUCKY me!! I am also 30yrs old, I thought for sure I’d keep my weight but I am blessed.
P.S all my kids weight was a good size, 8lbs, 7.2lbs and 7.3lbs!

every one is different and it depends on a lot of different factors ie whether the women is breastfeeding, how much exercise she does, her metabolism etc. I think probably as a general rule tho, the more weight you put on the longer it takes to lose it, so the less the weight the quicker it will be. that said, i put on 35 kilograms (not sure in pounds) in both my pregnancies, the first it took me 18 months to lose most of it and the second took me 3 months. The difference was due to having a overactive thyroid after my second baby. But anyway like I said, every one is different and there is definatly no set answer to this question

my mom only gained about 10 lbs with my sister and 12-15 with me. She said that as soon as she had the baby her stomach was back to normal and within a week or so the weight was gone since she hadn’t gained much to begin with.

I guess it all depends on where you gained the weight, metabolism, your diet and body type. I was 124pds pre-pregnancy w/my daughter and I gained 10pds…ate like a horse and lots of chocolate snacks…I had a C-section and did not breastfeed (did not produce milk) and by the time I went to work at 3 weeks I had lost most of the weight and my stomach was small…by my 6 week check up I was 110pds..so I lost 14pds more than what i was before pregnancy and my belly was flatter than it had ever been. If you don’t gain alot then it shouldn’t be too hard…also depends if you retain a lot of water or not after pregnancy but that usually goes away shortly after.
